A week long group film project with Alex Ruben.
The footage we used in the exhibition is from a video tape I found on the street near where I live, it was titled ‘Nans 105 christmas 93’ I had no idea what was on it. It turned out to be a news story about a lady called Elizabeth Polman turning 105, and a short look at her life, how her family was involved in the police in London, and so to celebrate her birthday they gave her a ride in a police car. Shortly after the news it cuts to home footage of the family watching the cameraman and news reporters covering it.
We re-recorded it and synced it onto two TVs, one showing the news report and the other showing the ‘behind the scene footage’ of all the family. We tried to recreate part of the sitting room having a sofa for the audience, a birthday banner on the wall and a table with flowers.
Here are some pictures from the exhibition, unfortunately I couldn't go but it looked brilliant!
